We are currently looking to establish a talent pool for future Assistant Manager of Culinary Services roles across our Retail, Residential, Full-Service Dining, and Fast Food venues.


The Opportunity:


As the Assistant Manager of Culinary Services, you will lead our team in the pursuit of excellence, playing a vital role in realizing our vision.

Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing fine dining operations, including employee management and event marketing. Our focus is on fostering a positive, customer-service oriented environment for both guests and team members, and you will be instrumental in promoting this ethos while embodying our USC pride.


The Accountabilities:
  • Manage orders of approved products with university-sanctioned suppliers and coordinate the delivery of food, beverages, and supplies.
  • Conduct weekly inventory assessments to ensure that goods are ordered according to operational needs.
  • Oversee employee performance daily, providing coaching and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Communicate clear expectations and guidelines to employees to meet operational and financial objectives.
  • Facilitate daily pre-shift meetings to update staff on operational changes and new promotions.
  • Conduct monthly meetings to discuss changes, expectations, training opportunities, and employment prospects within the Department.
  • Assign cleaning responsibilities and ensure equipment maintenance and repair requests are made as needed.
  • Review financial data daily to manage food, beverage, and labor costs effectively.
  • Oversee daily sales figures and ensure staff hours align with business volume.
  • Engage in employee recruitment, training, coaching, and counseling, while facilitating unit-specific training sessions.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned or requested, with the understanding that responsibilities may evolve.

The Qualifiers:
Education:
Associate's Degree.
Experience:
2 years in a supervisory role within the food service industry.

Expertise:
Proven supervisory or leadership experience in a fine dining setting.

Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety standards.

Strong customer service skills.


What We Prefer:
Bachelor's Degree.
3 years of relevant experience.
Ability to supervise students and temporary staff.
Experience in employee training and development.
Effective communication skills in English.

FIGHT ON

The annual base salary for this position is $66,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education, key skills, internal equity, and market considerations.
