Role Overview

Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled Principal Solid Waste Management Consultant to join our Resilience Team in the Mid-Atlantic region. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of solid waste related engineering and business advisory services within the municipal sector market of the DC Metro area and surrounding region.

This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual to actively participate as a key member of the Area Leadership and engage with our regional and national team of scientists, planners, and engineers to help shape Arcadis' impact across this segment of the market sector and enable our clients to develop sustainable and resilient solutions to the challenges faced by the solid waste industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize specialized expertise and knowledge of solid waste management systems in support of program planning, capital project delivery, operations and maintenance, and remediation of related collection, transfer, processing, and disposal of solid waste materials via a range of technologies.
  • Develop and implement capture plans and proposals to win a growing portfolio of industry-leading projects.
  • Collaborate with other Arcadis regional stakeholders to develop area business plans, including identification of opportunities and leadership of individual contract/project pursuits.
  • Provide technical guidance to multi-disciplinary teams on the development of significant solid waste management related opportunities and projects.
  • Manage internal project budgets and schedules for client deliverables.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to direct reports.
  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field of study.
  • 15 years of solid waste management consulting engineering experience.
  • Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude/demeanor and objectivity while navigating complex situations with multiple internal/external stakeholders and conflicting needs and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven excellence in business development, including sales, client maintenance, programmatic planning, development, and implementation of capture plans and proposals.
  • Proven excellence in proposal writing, including the ability to clearly articulate value propositions that differentiate from other offerors.
  • Proven excellence in internal project delivery (budget/profit and schedule).
  • Proven excellence in capital project delivery on behalf of clients, including capital project planning and experience using a range of alternative project delivery methods.
  • Proven excellence in collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.
