The Chief Executive Officer will work closely with the staff and Board of Directors to develop and implement a strategic vision that drives the organization forward. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the strategic direction, fundraising efforts, financial management, community outreach, and administrative functions of the Missouri Arts Council.
  • Act as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, supporting governance and strategic priorities.
  • Lead fundraising initiatives, including the cultivation of high-level memberships and solicitation of significant donations.
  • Ensure robust resources, controls, risk management, and oversight are in place to maintain organizational health.
  • Manage the financial stability of the organization through regular monitoring, reporting, forecasting, and audits.
  • Serve as the chief spokesperson for the organization, engaging with media, the public, and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to enhance efforts across a network of trusted collaborators.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Chief Executive Officer position will possess a strong passion for leadership and an entrepreneurial spirit. They should have a deep understanding of the arts nonprofit landscape, particularly in the evolving film and documentary sectors. Attention to the communities served by the Missouri Arts Council is essential.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • A commitment to the mission of the Missouri Arts Council and the ability to inspire others through the transformative power of the arts.
  • Skills to cultivate a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and trust within the organization.
  • Exceptional management capabilities, including high emotional intelligence.
  • Experience in developing and implementing advocacy and educational programs in similar organizations.
  • A proven track record in fundraising, particularly through major gifts and direct response initiatives.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget oversight, expense control, and risk management.
  • Creativity in event design and execution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A history of building and leveraging strong relationships with diverse partners.
  • A collaborative work style that values diverse perspectives and navigates conflict with grace and confidence.

While extensive nonprofit leadership experience in an arts organization is preferred, the Missouri Arts Council welcomes candidates from a variety of backgrounds who are excited about this opportunity to contribute to the organization.

Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with experience, with a range of $75,000-$90,000, along with comprehensive benefits.
