Job Summary

Defense Maritime Solutions Inc is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Compliance Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring legal and regulatory compliance and providing import/export advice and guidance within the controls of government rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Import/Export Compliance: Review international orders to ensure necessary documentation is submitted to the appropriate agency, verify data within international orders for accuracy, and review end-user/use statements and know what to look for to either approve or escalate for further internal investigation.
  • Product Classification: Review product listed on order with government guidelines to ensure product can be shipped to the country specified, self-classify product when necessary, utilizing knowledge of schedule B and HTS guidelines to ensure timely processing of orders.
  • Export Control: Self-classify products/items for ECCN or USML determinations, using order of review and specially designed analysis, and perform screening of the "bill to" and "ship to" addresses to ensure product is not being shipped to individuals or corporations identified as high risk by the U.S. government.
  • Regulatory Guidance: Provide export control regulatory guidance (subject matter authority) within the company, collect appropriate documentation for historical record keeping per company policies and procedures, and assist EO with drafting export license/authorization applications.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to develop and maintain standardized operating procedures and may assist other team members with administrative duties and/or projects as required.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, minimum of 3 years international trade compliance experience including working knowledge of filing Electronic Export Information (EEI), Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), US import customs requirements, HTS, SchB, ECCN, and USML code order of review/determinations, OFAC regulations, including sanctions review(s), and Denied party screenings.
