Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our clinicians and patients.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and perform measurement and screening procedures.
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment, including obtaining vital statistics such as height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
  • Record findings in patient medical records and inform clinicians of findings.
  • Obtain specimens from patients, as directed by clinicians, and complete requisitions, labels, and routes specimens according to established procedures.
  • Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), as required, and assist clinicians during examinations, procedures, and treatment.
  • Secure required supplies, tools, and equipment for specific procedures and ensure patient is appropriately draped and positioned.
  • Provide requested instruments to clinicians during procedures and assist in positioning and holding patients, as required.
  • Assist patients after examination, procedure, or treatment, and prepare, sterilize, and calibrate equipment.
  • Strictly adhere to infection control standards in the performance of duties.
  • Perform related clerical duties, including patient registration, processing insurance forms, certifications, physician orders, prescriptions, and scheduling and confirming patient appointments.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Successful completion of a six (6) month to one (1) year course in Medical Assisting at an accredited school OR 1-3 years of medical assistant experience, required.
