Position Summary:

The Receptionist will warmly and professionally welcome patients and visitors, guiding them through the necessary processes. This role acts as a crucial link between patients and medical personnel, ensuring exceptional customer service in every interaction.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports directly to the Practice Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Welcome patients and visitors promptly and courteously, preparing necessary information for their appointments. Collaborate with healthcare providers and support staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
  2. Manage appointment scheduling, including cancellations and rescheduling, while utilizing a waitlist for patients seeking earlier appointments.
  3. Provide outstanding customer service via telephone and in-person interactions.
  4. Operate standard office equipment efficiently.
  5. Verify and update billing, demographic, and insurance information during each encounter, ensuring accuracy.
  6. Obtain necessary waivers for services not covered by insurance and confirm referrals when required.
  7. Collect co-pays and payments, issuing receipts and explaining policies to patients.
  8. Maintain a balanced cash drawer and perform basic mathematical functions.
  9. Keep current with Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Adhere to the Standards of Behavior and the Code of Conduct consistently throughout all job functions.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Typing proficiency of at least 35 words per minute.
  • Basic computer literacy.
Desired:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One year of experience in a medical office environment.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is a plus.
