Position Title: Project Manager / Estimator

Location: Cleveland, OH

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Compensation: $65,000 to $110,000 + Bonus Potential

Job Overview:

This role entails primary responsibility for overseeing and managing all stages of production related to the creation of drawings, drafting, and design of engineered products, particularly those involving fabricated and machined heavy metal components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and operate computer system hardware and software, including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ProNest, and other Microsoft applications.
  • Create original drawings, blueprints, and shop drawings from customer specifications or initial designs.
  • Identify and assess customer service needs by establishing strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide comprehensive product, service, and technical information in response to inquiries.
  • Prepare cost estimates by analyzing blueprints and consulting with engineers and architects.
  • Evaluate potential improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios and proposing changes to equipment or processes.
  • Facilitate customer acceptance by demonstrating operational improvements and cost reductions.
  • Coordinate orders with technical support staff and manage engineering change costs.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements by staying informed on relevant legislation and advising clients accordingly.
  • Enhance professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking.
  • Support sales engineering by identifying key issues and recommending actionable solutions.
  • Contribute to team objectives by achieving related results.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Engage in direct client communication and project follow-up.
  • Develop preliminary designs and drawings to support quotes based on initial inputs.
  • Produce final drawings and designs, including detailed shop fabrication sketches.
  • Act as a liaison between the shop and engineering/sales teams.
  • Generate material purchase orders and specifications from drawings.
  • Communicate with suppliers to clarify order requirements.
  • Review incoming material invoices for accuracy against specifications.
  • Initiate internal shop orders for fabrication.
  • Coordinate with inspection agencies to ensure quality compliance.
  • Monitor shop fabrication for adherence to drawing specifications.
  • Compile final certification and quality documentation for customer shipments.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • General programming skills.
  • Technical understanding of engineering principles.
  • Experience in requirements analysis.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and database management.
  • Excellent organizational skills for paperwork management.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication and related products.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Engineering degree from an accredited institution (proof required).
  • 1-2 years of experience in metal fabrication, welding, and machinery.
  • Hands-on experience with metal fabrication and machining processes.
  • Familiarity with plate cutout nesting software.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
