Overview

Novant Health is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician III - Certified to join our hospital pharmacy team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in delivering optimal medication management across all dimensions of care, every time.

Responsibilities
  • Filling and delivering medication orders for all age groups under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Performing non-sterile compounding and repackaging.
  • Answering and screening telephone calls and referring calls to a pharmacist when appropriate.
  • Processing cart fills, refills to automated dispensing machines and replenishments to emergency kits and carts.
  • Demonstrating proficiency with equipment and software.
  • Collecting medication histories from patients and/or compounding sterile admixtures.
  • Performing additional duties that may include purchasing or validating (as eligible per educational requirement).
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred (required for validating duties).
  • Prior experience in a minimum of three pharmacy skills (examples may include but are not limited to the following activities: medication distribution, sterile compounding, medication listing, controlled substance accountability, highly privileged ADS, validating duties and/or as a Pharmacy Tech II Certified, have 2 years experience in acute care and now competently performing a third pharmacy skill as described above; required.
  • Current registry with applicable State Board(s) of Pharmacy, required.
  • PTCB or NHA Certification within 60 days of hire, required.
  • A minimum of two relevant specialized certificates/certifications from approved vendors such as PTCB, BPTS or NPTA (examples include but are not limited to product verification, medication history, hazardous drug management, billing/reimbursement, controlled substances diversion prevention, medication therapy management, sterile additional certificate/certification for technicians with Validating Tech credentials (NC).
