Position Overview

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is on the lookout for qualified candidates for the role of Maintenance Technician I within the Waste Management Division. This position focuses on general maintenance tasks to support landfill and recycling operations, primarily through grounds upkeep at our expansive 400-acre Landfill site. Responsibilities will include the use of various equipment such as lawn mowers, tractors, rotary mowers, string trimmers, blowers, and vacuums.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct lawn mowing, edging, and trimming
- Perform fence-line maintenance and litter control
- Manage traffic control and assist with recycling center operations
- Participate in seasonal maintenance tasks including landscape equipment upkeep, fence repairs, erosion control (raking, shaping, seeding, mulching), snow removal, and site cleanup.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with at least one (1) year of relevant experience in basic grounds and/or building maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in small engine maintenance and repair is preferred.

Job Requirements:
A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory. Candidates must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
