Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to join our team at Bright Horizons Children's Centers. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in supporting the growth and development of our centers, staff, and children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support staff to create an inclusive environment that promotes respect, empathy, and understanding among children, families, and colleagues.
  • Participate in the recruiting process, including outreach to local communities and educational institutions, and in all steps associated with hiring and onboarding new staff members.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge, including job performance appraisals, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Evaluate and improve classroom curriculum and environments to ensure they meet Bright Horizons' high standards.
  • Utilize center communication systems and attend center events, such as staff meetings and training days, to foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Model positive and professional interactions with families, attending all family meetings and special events, and following the 10 Steps to Parent Partnerships.
  • Attend client meetings, review contracts, and participate in monthly joint reviews to ensure excellent customer service and business outcomes.
  • Participate in calls for setting up new centers, marketing, recruiting, construction, and licensing, and keep the Director informed of any family or staff issues.
  • Maintain accurate records, conduct family tours, and promote the family referral program to drive business growth.
  • Assist with all aspects of marketing and enrollment, including utilizing IMS and conducting center tours, and implement NAEYC standards and state licensing requirements.
  • Follow all state regulations pertaining to incidents of abuse and neglect, including mandated reporting requirements and training, and maintain confidentiality about issues concerning other staff members, children, and families.
  • Provide a clean, safe, and child-ready center at all times, and positively project the organization's mission, goals, philosophies, and policies to families, staff, and the community.
  • Establish positive relationships with home team, vendors, and clients, and assume additional classroom and center responsibilities as needed.
  • Ensure daily responsibilities are completed, jobs are shared and taught to each team member over time, and lead and supervise teaching teams through communication, collaboration, and discussion of individual children's needs, services, and curriculum planning.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, with 3-5 years of management experience and additional professional teaching experience.
  • Qualified to meet state requirements for Director (preferred) or prepared to participate in an education plan to become qualified within 5 years.
  • At a minimum, must have a CDA or 9 credit hours/120 clock hours/12 CEUs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of NAEYC accreditation and licensing standards, knowledge and ability to lead staff in implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum, experience and skill in communication, leadership, organization, and supervision, sensitivity and responsiveness to needs of parents/guardians, staff, and clients, and ability to perform job responsibilities in all levels of direct care.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and organizational skills, and capacity to understand and manage center/school financial duties.
  • Computer literacy required, and ability to respond well to unusual or crisis situations.
