Job Title: Athletic Training Support Specialist at Commonwealth of Virginia

The Athletic Training Support Specialist position is vital within the Sports Medicine division of the athletic department. Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, this role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including medical professionals and departmental offices.

  • Assist the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in providing comprehensive coverage for multiple intercollegiate sports teams.
  • Oversee all aspects of medical support including injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, with a primary focus on men's basketball.
  • Facilitate effective communication with sports medicine personnel, physicians, and administrative staff.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities such as processing insurance claims, procuring medical supplies, updating the Sports Medicine website, and maintaining records of CPR certifications.
  • Serve as a secondary contact for NCAA drug testing and deliver athletic training services at the campus infirmary.
  • Ensure adherence to NCAA, Southern Conference, and institutional regulations.
  • Contribute to departmental administrative initiatives and provide sports medicine coverage as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine, Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Health & Human Services, or a related discipline.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in the Sports Medicine or Athletic Training field.

Additional Considerations:

A Master's degree in Sports Medicine, Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Health & Human Services is preferred.
