Role Summary

As a reputable American Sportswear and Accessories brand based in New York, J.McLaughlin is known for its commitment to local communities and building meaningful relationships with customers through personalized service. We are expanding and seek a qualified Sales Audit Accountant/Accounts Receivable professional to enhance our Finance & Accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile daily Point of Sale (POS) sales and returns transactions in Aptos (Epicor) for both retail stores and the online platform.
  • Verify transaction data from various processors (Adyen, AMEX, Shopify, etc.) against sales records in Aptos.
  • Record all monthly retail sales activities in the General Ledger (Great Plains).
  • Post and reconcile all credit card and cash receipts to the General Ledger.
  • Oversee cash receipts from retail locations to the company's bank accounts.
  • Upload and manage Sales Tax information in the Avalara system for monthly tax submissions.
  • Prepare and submit documentation for chargeback claims.
  • Engage in system upgrades and platform modifications related to POS operations.
  • Manage store business licenses and personal property tax submissions.
  • Collaborate with both external and internal auditors.
  • Conduct ad hoc reporting and special projects as required.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Sales Audit within a retail environment.
  • Experience with the Aptos (Epicor) system is advantageous.
  • The ability to troubleshoot issues in a dynamic, fast-paced, and time-sensitive setting.
  • A quick learning ability for new systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • The capability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • The flexibility to work in a hybrid model.
