Position Overview: The Financial Operations & Analysis (FOA) department is seeking an Assistant Vice President to enhance our team. The FOA team is dedicated to delivering precise, timely, and essential financial data analysis for the organization. In this Finance Manager capacity, you will gain cross-functional visibility and collaborate with various internal departments, including Portfolio & Asset Management and Client Service & Marketing, as well as external service providers. Our team operates in a hybrid work model, with three days each week spent in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and related accounting documentation from our external accounting service provider.
  • Lead the review and endorsement of intricate accounting activities, including loan originations, repayments, defaults, foreclosures, and waterfall calculations.
  • Conduct analyses and forecasts of internal rates of return (IRR) and time-weighted returns, providing insights and projections to the Portfolio & Asset Management team.
  • Coordinate, review, and analyze quarterly property and debt valuations, along with quarterly status reports, in collaboration with Portfolio & Asset Management.
  • Examine and assess fund cash flow calculations, encompassing contributions, distributions, and redemptions.
  • Supervise the review and validation of fund Net Asset Value and fund share price calculations.
  • Engage in ad-hoc projects, including consultant/client questionnaires or other initiatives to support Portfolio Management in enhancing fund performance and client service.
  • Interact directly with third parties, including clients, fund administrators, consultants, property managers, auditors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Assist Portfolio & Asset Management in executing fund-level and investment-specific strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to fund agreements, co-investment agreements, and investor side letters.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects, navigate unexpected challenges, and develop effective solutions to optimize fund performance.
  • Communicate analyses and results to the broader internal team, including departments, investment committees, Client Service & Marketing, and valuation committees.
  • Participate in industry learning opportunities both within and outside the organization.
  • Monitor and enhance fund efficiencies, ensuring the implementation of improvements, including the development of technology-enabled tools.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of investments within the assigned fund, tracking modifications and amendments to existing investment structures.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of six years of experience in real estate accounting and finance.
  • A Bachelor's degree in real estate, accounting, or finance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional communication skills with strong writing abilities.
  • A commitment to managing competing deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple assignments, and manage requests from various business partners under tight deadlines.
  • Capacity to work efficiently in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment.
  • Experience in managing personnel both directly and indirectly.
  • Familiarity with valuation and Argus modeling is advantageous.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI) and RPA/bot software is a plus.
