Overview:


This role encompasses a variety of Food & Nutrition services and support across several key areas:

Patient Nutrition: Responsible for ensuring that patients with active dietary orders receive their prescribed meals and any necessary supplementary nourishments.

Commercial Services: Involves setting up food stations and serving customers efficiently and courteously in designated commercial areas such as Cafeteria and Faculty Dining Room; includes assembling and preparing menu items, and may involve leading the team in the absence of a supervisor.

Ingredient Management: Involves precise measurement and portioning of various food items for both patient and commercial services, adhering to HACCP guidelines and standard recipes; responsible for preparing specialized food orders for different hospital units.

Cold Food Production: Follows recipes in compliance with health and safety regulations to prepare a range of food items for patient and commercial services; includes accurate portioning and plating, as well as preparing sandwiches and platters for various service lines.

Baking Assistance: Supports baking operations, including the pre-preparation of high-quality baked goods, while maintaining safe and sanitary practices and performing general cleaning duties.

Sanitation in Production: Engages in thorough cleaning and high-level sanitation of kitchen areas using approved cleaning agents; may provide assistance in other food service areas as required.

Dishwashing Duties: Responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and distributing kitchenware; includes sweeping, mopping, general cleaning, waste disposal, and assisting in food preparation tasks such as cutting desserts and washing produce.


Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Core Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must possess the ability to read, write, perform basic math, and follow both written and verbal instructions. A year of experience in institutional kitchen services is preferred. Familiarity with various production equipment is beneficial. On-the-job training will be provided under moderate supervision.

Patient Nutrition:
A year of experience is preferred, ideally in a hospital or healthcare setting. Understanding the unique aspects of patient meal service is essential, along with a background in general kitchen equipment.

Commercial Services:
Experience in healthcare foodservice is preferred. Must be knowledgeable in setting up cafeteria services and serving food to customers. Familiarity with foodservice equipment and terminology is advantageous.

Ingredient Management:
Must be capable of performing basic math calculations and following written and verbal instructions. Knowledge of production equipment is necessary.

Ability to read and comprehend standardized recipes is essential for accurately measuring food ingredients.

Familiarity with large-scale food production is required, along with proper operation of kitchen equipment.

Cold Food Production:
Must be adept at preparing a variety of food items attractively, following standardized recipes. Knowledge of large-scale food production is necessary, along with the ability to operate kitchen equipment effectively.

Baking Assistance:
Understanding of various pan sizes, portion yields, and pre-preparation processes is important. Knowledge of sanitation practices is crucial. Familiarity with different types of kitchen equipment is beneficial.

Sanitation in Production:
Must understand the importance of sanitation in food safety.

Knowledge of cleaning various surfaces and measuring appropriate amounts of cleaning agents is required.

Familiarity with production equipment and large-scale food production is preferred.

Dishwashing Duties:
Must be capable of accurately measuring cleaning agents. Familiarity with large-scale food production and kitchen equipment is beneficial.
