Position Overview

Classification Title:

Clinical Nutrition Specialist I

Role Responsibilities:
  • Conducts comprehensive nutrient intake evaluations, identifies the dietary requirements of patients, and formulates and executes nutritional care strategies for patients within the designated healthcare network.
  • Evaluates the educational needs and readiness of patients and their families; delivers tailored, age-appropriate nutritional guidance to ensure understanding and provides additional education as necessary.
  • Engages in discharge planning and multidisciplinary patient care meetings; follows up on care recommendations and collaborates with the healthcare team to facilitate smooth transitions between inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Offers counseling to patients and their support systems when specific dietary modifications are required, ensuring clear communication of dietary instructions.
  • Collaborates with community organizations, professional bodies, and other agencies to implement effective care plans.
  • Records nutritional data in the electronic health record system and maintains comprehensive documentation.
  • Functions as an integral member of the healthcare team, serving as a liaison between patients, families, and clinical staff to promote high-quality service.
  • Assists in the creation, revision, and enhancement of nutritional educational resources, including the annual review of dietary guidelines. Develops and delivers health education initiatives, including workshops and community outreach programs.
  • Participates actively in departmental and organization-wide meetings.


Compensation:

$46,000 to $65,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, or food service management, along with completion of an accredited dietetic education program. Licensure as a Dietitian in accordance with relevant state regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience in a healthcare environment, particularly with the HIV/AIDS population.
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field or a Bachelor's degree with two years of relevant experience.
