This position is available due to a recent vacancy, and we are looking to fill it promptly. This is not a newly established role.

In this role, you will collaborate with certified staff in classrooms or other educational settings, assisting with a range of instructional support and student supervision tasks. Responsibilities include preparing educational materials and monitoring students' progress, behavior, and safety.

You will also perform routine clerical duties to assist teachers and other district personnel.



Shift Details:
4 hours per day; 183-day calendar

Continuing Position:
Employees can expect reasonable assurance of continued employment for the following school year. However, total work hours and designated start and end times may vary.

$27.54 to $31.39 (hourly Classified Support Staff Salary Schedule)

Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

Applicants must be at least eighteen years old and possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, a paraeducator must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  2. Have completed 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher from an accredited college or university.
  3. Have finished an apprenticeship as a paraeducator in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council.
  4. Achieved a passing score on one of the PESB approved assessments:
  • ETS ParaPro Assessment
  • Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment
  • Master Teacher Inc.

Licenses/Special Requirements:
Possession of valid First Aid and CPR Certifications or willingness to obtain them based on job assignment. Certification in de-escalation and physical restraint training is mandatory for all employees working in self-contained classrooms.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in an educational environment and/or demonstrated interest in supporting learning experiences. Training in cultural, ethnic, and language diversity is advantageous.

Eligibility for SEBB state health insurance coverage is determined by working a minimum of 630 hours during the school year.

Eligibility for retirement at the time of hire is available for employees who work at least 3.50 hours per day in a continuing position.
