Contract to Hire Phlebotomist & Medical Assistant Opportunity

This is a contract to hire opportunity for a Phlebotomist & Medical Assistant to join our team at a reputable Oncology healthcare network in Northridge, CA.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist & Medical Assistant to provide excellent patient services and support our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical assisting, phlebotomy, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure patient satisfaction by providing excellent patient services and addressing patients with a compassionate, friendly, and caring attitude.
  • Room patients, accurately collect and record patients' vital statistics, allergies, medications, and concerns.
  • Prepare exam rooms, stock and maintain supplies and equipment, and keep the rooms neat and clean.
  • Effectively assist with prescriptions and authorizing drug refill requests.
  • Triage messages, route, and relay information to staff, providers, and patients in a timely manner.
  • Maintain detailed notes in patients' electronic records.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality for patients in accordance with HIPAA standards.
  • Effectively maintain a professional demeanor with patients, staff, and physicians at all times.
  • Back up infusion room medical assistant duties, including injections and venipuncture.
  • Draw blood for lab work.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited education institution.
  • Current CPR certification a plus.
  • California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license required.
  • EMR software experience is a huge plus.
  • Must comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and office policies and protocols.
  • Knowledge of computer/telephony support, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong customer service background, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Competence with computer processing functions and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to calmly and professionally resolve customer issues with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills.
