Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are equipped with necessary supplies and tools.
- Guide patients to examination areas and assist with their assessments and procedures.
- Record vital signs, medical histories, and primary complaints accurately.
- Support healthcare providers during orthopedic procedures and treatments.
- Conduct basic laboratory tests and gather specimens for analysis.
- Apply and remove casts and splints as instructed by healthcare professionals.
- Ensure accurate documentation and coding of orthopedic procedures and treatments.
- Facilitate referrals to other healthcare providers or facilities as required.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments, surgeries, and follow-up consultations.
- Manage medical records, ensuring they are accurate and confidential.
- Verify insurance coverage and secure necessary authorizations.
- Respond to phone calls, inquiries, and requests from patients and their families.
- Assist with billing and coding tasks, ensuring compliance with regulatory and insurance standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an orthopedic environment.
- Strong understanding of orthopedic procedures, treatments, and anatomy.
- Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic setting.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Compassionate care provider for patients of all ages.
- Knowledge of medical billing and coding processes.
