Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Prepare examination areas, ensuring they are adequately stocked with essential supplies and equipment.
  • Guide patients to examination rooms and assist with their assessments and procedures.
  • Record vital signs, medical histories, and primary complaints accurately.
  • Support healthcare providers during orthopedic procedures and treatments.
  • Conduct basic laboratory tests and gather specimens for analysis.
  • Apply and remove casts and splints as instructed by the healthcare provider.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and coding of orthopedic procedures and treatments.
  • Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals or facilities as necessary.

Administrative Duties:

  • Coordinate patient appointments, surgeries, and follow-up visits.
  • Maintain medical records with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Verify insurance coverage and secure necessary authorizations.
  • Manage phone communications, inquiries, and requests from patients and their families.
  • Assist with billing and coding tasks, ensuring adherence to regulatory and insurance standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an orthopedic environment.
  • Strong understanding of orthopedic procedures, treatments, and anatomy.
  • Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic setting.
  • Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized.
  • Ability to provide compassionate care to patients across all age groups.
  • Familiarity with medical billing and coding processes.
