Your responsibilities will encompass a range of clinical and administrative duties, ensuring efficient department operations and high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Prepare examination areas, ensuring they are adequately stocked with essential supplies and equipment.
- Guide patients to examination rooms and assist with their assessments and procedures.
- Record vital signs, medical histories, and primary complaints accurately.
- Support healthcare providers during orthopedic procedures and treatments.
- Conduct basic laboratory tests and gather specimens for analysis.
- Apply and remove casts and splints as instructed by the healthcare provider.
- Ensure accurate documentation and coding of orthopedic procedures and treatments.
- Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals or facilities as necessary.
Administrative Duties:
- Coordinate patient appointments, surgeries, and follow-up visits.
- Maintain medical records with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality.
- Verify insurance coverage and secure necessary authorizations.
- Manage phone communications, inquiries, and requests from patients and their families.
- Assist with billing and coding tasks, ensuring adherence to regulatory and insurance standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an orthopedic environment.
- Strong understanding of orthopedic procedures, treatments, and anatomy.
- Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic setting.
- Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized.
- Ability to provide compassionate care to patients across all age groups.
- Familiarity with medical billing and coding processes.
