About the Role

At Blue Origin, we're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. As a Fluids Technical Design CAD Manager, you'll play a critical role in leading a team of technical designers generating, integrating, and releasing CAD models of fluids and propulsion subsystems for Lunar vehicles.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of technical designers to generate, integrate, and release CAD models of fluids and propulsion subsystems for Lunar vehicles.
  • Accountable for execution of technical design deliverables while balancing cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Integrate with the broader vehicle team to solve the most challenging integrated lunar lander design optimization problems.
  • Recruit, hire, manage, and mentor a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team.
  • Manage your team's professional development, including coaching, routine one-on-one development conversations, performance reviews, and promotion management.
  • Develop tools and processes to improve team capability and performance.
  • Develop robust plans meeting deliverables and manage to the key operating metrics, including technical, cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Monitor technical progress, requirements, budget, schedule, deliverables, and risks, as well as review recommendations for change with program management.
  • Communicate progress to leadership team via program management reviews, weekly/monthly finance reviews, long-term forecasting business plan, and project deep dives.
  • Utilize good engineering and business judgment to ensure the most efficient and effective product is designed, manufactured, procured, tested, qualified, and delivered.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related technical subject area.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide cost and schedule leadership of a team.
  • 5+ years managing technical teams and/or leading functional groups with responsibility for leading and coaching employees.
  • 10+ years directly related experience.
  • In-depth understanding of CAD modeling, mechanical, and structural engineering principles.
  • Track record of delivering complex products on schedule and in budget.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
