As a Quantitative Research Analyst Intern, you will collaborate closely with our Research Team composed of mathematicians, scientists, and technologists to refine and advance the models that underpin Optiver's trading strategies. You will address a practical research challenge that has significant implications and directly impacts trading decisions. In a dynamic market environment, your analytical skills will be essential in forecasting market movements.

Key Responsibilities:

Guided by our dedicated education team, you will immerse yourself in trading principles and participate in impactful research initiatives. You will be partnered with an experienced researcher from Optiver, gaining exposure to diverse research domains, including:

  • Applying statistical models and machine learning techniques to create trading algorithms.
  • Utilizing big data technologies to evaluate high-frequency trading strategies, market microstructure, and financial instruments to uncover trading prospects.
  • Constructing stochastic models to ascertain the fair value of financial derivatives.
  • Integrating quantitative analysis with high-performance execution to guarantee the efficiency and precision of pricing engines and libraries.
Based on your performance during the internship, there may be an opportunity for a full-time position following your academic journey.

Candidate Profile:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related STEM discipline with exemplary academic achievements.
  • Availability for a full-time role upon graduation.
  • Solid grounding in mathematics, probability, and statistics.
  • Strong research, analytical, and modeling capabilities.
  • Experience in independent research.
  • Proficiency in any programming language.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, time-series analysis, pattern recognition, and NLP is advantageous.
  • A keen interest in thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
