Key Responsibilities- Design and implement research projects and grant proposals, ensuring high-quality statistical methodology and analysis.
- Conduct power and preliminary analyses to inform research design and grant proposals.
- Provide statistical support to faculty investigators on funded projects, including data analysis and interpretation.
- Mentor and support graduate students and professional statistical experts on research projects.
- Foster a collaborative and collegial culture around quantitative methodology in population science.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other statistics/data science support units and experts on campus to facilitate collaboration.
- Masters degree in statistics, biostatistics, demography, sociology, economics, education, human development, psychology, political science, or a closely related quantitative area, with strong quantitative methodological training.
- At least 6 years of related experience, with a strong track record of statistical consulting and research support.
- Broad experience in statistical methods, including power calculations, missing data, survey sampling, and experimental design.
- Strong programming and data management skills, with expertise in statistical software or programming environments such as Stata, R, SAS, SPSS, or Mplus.
- Demonstrated experience in quantitative research using large datasets, with a strong understanding of data documentation and secure/restricted data handling.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty investigators, graduate students, and other stakeholders.
- PhD (or related doctoral degree) in statistics, biostatistics, demography, sociology, economics, education, human development, psychology, political science, or a closely related quantitative area, with experience providing collaborative statistical support to grant proposals and funded projects.
- Experience in producing data documentation and handling secure/restricted data, with a strong understanding of data linkage and statistical/machine learning methods.
- Record of serving as principal investigator, co-investigator, or statistical consultant on federally funded grants, with a strong track record of publication and collaboration.
- Authorship of collaborative publications, with a strong understanding of the research landscape and opportunities for collaboration.
- Experience working in a highly interdisciplinary research environment, with a strong ability to communicate complex statistical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
This is a full-time position, with a typical office environment and a salary range of $75,000 - $95,000.
