Job Summary:

The R&D Engineer at Lenco Armored Vehicles plays a pivotal role in advancing new products and technologies, driving innovation and excellence in the field of armored vehicles. This position requires a strong understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts, as well as the ability to develop imaginative and practical solutions to complex design and manufacturing problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement technical solutions to engineering problems using sound principles and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive prototype designs from concept to production, ensuring design requirements and product specifications are met.
  • Support material and design changes to the product line through the design control process, with a focus on well-documented research and analysis.
  • Design and lead test plans for product or project design evaluation, validation, and verification, as well as vendor interactions and materials specifications.
  • Review and analyze component listings for computed BoMs, SolidWorks BoMs, weldment BoMs, and weldment cut lists to facilitate data export.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Lenco products, processes, and industry standards through formal and informal training, technical review, customer and vendor visits, and general business exposure.
  • Assist production and support departments with problem resolution and provide technical support as needed.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of Lenco vehicles, including the BearCat, BEAR, and other models, as required.
  • Support the Engineering team by researching parts and components for rebuilds and product installs.
  • Support Parts sales and Tech services/Aftersales teams with research for parts and components of vehicles in the field.
  • Support the Purchasing Department with specifying and resourcing discontinued parts.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to research improved products and services.
  • Design, develop, and test product/design improvements, or source and cost-justify various product/design improvements.
  • Carry out process improvement, problem resolution, and project management tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Two plus (2+) years of R&D experience
  • Three plus (3+) years in an Engineering role in a manufacturing environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or related Engineering field
