Job Summary:

As a MRI Technologist Lead at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a crucial role in directing, checking, training, and reporting on the work performance of three or more regular employees in the MRI department. You will operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes. Under the direction of the Chief of Radiology and the Imaging Services Director, you will perform related technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care utilizing efficient and safe processes.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Direct, check, train, and report on the work performance of three or more regular employees.
  • Orient new hires.
  • Perform patient studies according to set protocol, including placing specified coil close to the area of interest.
  • Operate imaging and other equipment devices to provide quality diagnostic services.
  • Interview patients to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures and address patient concerns.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety by explaining safety protocol, requesting removal of hazardous metal objects, and monitoring patients via closed-circuit TV.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

The incumbent motivates and provides direction to other employees but does not have the authority to hire, fire, or discipline.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Have a minimum of two years of regular (twenty hours or more per week) continuous recent experience as a MRI Technologist with Kaiser Permanente and be fully proficient in all the duties required of a MRI Technologist to the satisfaction of the department manager.
  • Have three years of regular (twenty hours or more per week) continuous recent experience in other hospitals and clinics as a MRI Technologist.
Education:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
License, Certification, Registration:
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California).
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California) within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in teaching other Technologists.
  • Must be fully proficient in MRI to the full satisfaction of the department manager and have knowledge of the required protocols in performing complex MRI procedures.
  • Must be specifically and regularly assigned by the department manager to direct, check, train, and report on the work performance of three or more regular employees in MRI; at least two of the three employees must work as MRI Technologists.
Ability to:
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Write simple correspondence.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other incumbents of the organization.
