We are seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Associate to engage in pioneering research focused on organ cryopreservation for transplantation. This role is part of a collaborative effort between the University of Minnesota Division of Solid Organ Transplantation and the Bioheat and Mass Transfer Laboratory.
Research Focus
The primary aim of this research is to develop innovative methodologies for the cryopreservation of cells and tissues, addressing a significant barrier in the fields of transplantation and regenerative medicine. Our team has achieved remarkable results, including the successful cryopreservation of kidneys for extended periods while maintaining organ functionality. This research has the potential to revolutionize how we approach organ and tissue viability for transplantation.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Conducting microsurgical procedures on preclinical animal models.
2. Performing ex vivo organ perfusion and biological assessments.
3. Documenting and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and data summaries.
4. Engaging in data analysis and contributing to scientific publications.
5. Participating in general laboratory maintenance and organization.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- An MD, PhD, or MD/PhD with relevant surgical experience.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
