Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmic Care Specialist to join our team at Richard Fichman MD PC. As a key member of our eye care team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and assisting our physicians with administrative and clinical duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet and greet patients, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
  • Assist physicians with patient care, including minor procedures and documentation.
  • Perform vision and ocular tests, explaining procedures to patients and ensuring their understanding.
  • Document exam details and physician findings in the electronic chart.
  • Precept and train fellow technicians, promoting a culture of excellence and knowledge sharing.
  • Prepare, maintain, and clean treatment rooms and ophthalmic instruments, adhering to high standards of hygiene and safety.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and perform ancillary testing, documenting results accurately.
  • Administer medications according to compliance standards and maintain inventory, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to teamwork.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills, with strong interpersonal and time management abilities.
  • Strong customer service skills, with a focus on delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, and stand for long periods.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or one (1) year of specialized ophthalmic experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred or enrolled within twelve (12) months of hire and completion within two (2) years of hire.
  • Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) required or completion within 45 days of hire.
