Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Richard Fichman MD PC. As a key member of our eye care team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and assisting our physicians with various administrative and clinical duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians with patient care and minor procedures
- Perform vision and ocular tests, explaining procedures to patients
- Document exam details and physician findings in the electronic chart
- Ensure patient understanding of all instructions
- Precept and train fellow technicians
- Prepare, maintain, and clean treatment rooms and ophthalmic instruments
- Report equipment malfunctions
- Perform ancillary testing and document results
- Administer medications according to compliance standards
- Maintain inventory and assist with equipment upkeep
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills
- Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or one (1) year of specialized ophthalmic experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred or enrolled within twelve (12) months of hire and completion within two (2) years of hire
- Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) required or completion within 45 days of hire
