Position Summary:

APTIM is on the lookout for skilled mid-level engineers to become part of our team dedicated to serving both Government and Commercial sectors.

Engineers will utilize critical thinking skills throughout the phases of planning, procurement, design, construction, and commissioning of projects. APTIM encourages our engineers to be innovative problem solvers, consistently seeking optimal solutions for our diverse clientele. Engineers will frequently manage multiple projects concurrently and undertake additional responsibilities as necessary. This role necessitates a solid understanding of the engineering and construction sectors, including familiarity with corporate mechanisms such as scopes of work and construction safety protocols. Immediate opportunities for professional growth are available while addressing challenges in the engineering and construction fields. Engineers will engage in both fieldwork (domestic and international) and office tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate extensive experience in mechanical engineering, adeptly resolving a wide array of challenges through innovative approaches.
  • Possess knowledge of HVAC systems, including ASHRAE, SMACNA, and ACGIH Codes.
  • Utilize building load calculation software, specifically Carrier HAP.
  • Conduct duct sizing and pressure drop assessments.
  • Specify and size HVAC equipment, including AHUs, DX Units, Chillers, Pumping systems, Cooling towers, Boilers, and Heat exchangers.
  • Apply a broad understanding of mechanical engineering principles, theories, and concepts, along with knowledge of related fields.
  • Provide solutions to a diverse range of complex issues, requiring thorough data analysis.
  • Exhibit sound judgment in selecting appropriate methods and techniques for problem resolution.
  • Develop project design bases, specifications, and perform detailed engineering tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering codes, standards, and company policies.
  • May assume project leadership roles and/or supervise junior personnel.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by performing detailed technical analyses of complex project challenges.
  • Break down intricate technical tasks into manageable components.
  • Travel to project sites to provide engineering support, attend client meetings, and collaborate with other company offices.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and technical engineering software; familiarity with CADD tools (AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation) is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel for occasional field assignments.
  • Experience in mechanical and plumbing systems is a plus.
  • Nuclear industry experience is beneficial.
  • Field experience is advantageous.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to pass a background check for access to government facilities.
  • FE and EIT certifications preferred; PE certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team.
  • Willingness to engage across various engineering disciplines.
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving capabilities.

The targeted salary for this position ranges from $95,000 to $120,000.
