Position Overview:
At Houston Methodist, the role of the Physician Recruiter is pivotal in guiding and assisting senior executives and department chairs with their high-level physician and leadership talent acquisition requirements. This position is tasked with formulating and implementing tailored strategies, collaborating with hiring authorities to fulfill business placement goals by attracting and securing a diverse pool of exceptional talent.

This role encompasses sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating offers as necessary, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives and operational goals of Houston Methodist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consultation: Engage with senior management and department chairs to clarify job specifications and candidate criteria, understanding their operational needs and devising recruitment strategies to attract talented and diverse candidates.
  • Staffing Needs Assessment: Collaborate with departmental clients to outline both immediate and long-term staffing requirements, proactively addressing these needs based on succession planning and turnover forecasts.
  • Candidate Evaluation: Conduct screenings and interviews for executive-level and physician candidates using advanced interviewing techniques, ensuring a positive experience for both applicants and hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
  • Mentorship: Act as a role model and mentor for peers, suggesting improvements to enhance departmental metrics related to turnover, retention, and employee engagement.

Recruitment Strategy:

  • Utilize innovative recruitment technologies and platforms to engage both passive and active candidates, while adhering to principles of cultural diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop and execute recruitment plans for physicians, identifying sourcing activities and considering factors that influence the ability to attract and retain qualified applicants.
  • Oversee all stages of the recruitment process, ensuring effective communication with candidates and hiring managers to facilitate a seamless onboarding experience.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and manage candidate information in the applicant tracking system, adhering to established procedures.
  • Regularly produce and analyze recruitment metrics to meet departmental goals related to time-to-fill positions and diversity in the candidate pool.
  • Leverage feedback and data to provide strategic recommendations for continuous improvement in recruitment practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years in Human Resources, with at least three years focused on physician or executive recruitment, preferably in a healthcare or academic medicine setting.
  • Certifications: Preferred certifications include Certified Internet Recruiter (CIR) and Physician/Provider Recruitment Professional (CPRP).
