Position Overview

Role Summary: As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Healthcare Support Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of patient care services at Cal-X Family Clinic PLC.

Key Responsibilities:

Front Office Duties:

  • Manage the complete process of patient registration, which includes collecting necessary insurance and identification documents, verifying eligibility, communicating fees, and processing payments.
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations, minor procedures, blood draws, and IV placements.

Back Office Duties:

  • Gather patient medical history and reason for the visit, ensuring accurate documentation to maintain a comprehensive and legally compliant medical record.
  • Administer injections and medications as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Prepare patients for their appointments by escorting them to examination rooms.
  • Conduct preliminary physical assessments, including measuring blood pressure, weight, and temperature, while documenting patient history.
  • Manage patient and laboratory charges for billing purposes.
  • Support healthcare providers in delivering patient education.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, preferably DrChrono EHR, and understanding of ICD10 coding.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medications, and injection techniques.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and management.
  • Demonstrated empathy and a commitment to treating all patients with respect and care.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality of patient information.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
  • Current National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • A minimum of 12 months of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • A minimum of 12 months of experience as a Medical Assistant.
