Job Summary

As a Train Service Personnel I, you will work under direct supervision to learn the job duties of various positions, including Breakman, Conductor, and Fireman. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting in performing preventative maintenance inspections, completing required reporting and record-keeping, and ensuring the security and cleanliness of equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in performing preventative maintenance inspections on locomotives and passenger coaches.
  • Complete required reporting and record-keeping in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure the security and cleanliness of equipment and facilities.
  • Work alongside Breakman, Conductor, or Fireman to learn job duties and responsibilities.
  • Assist in Roundhouse operations, including the proper use, storage, and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Ensure a safe and pleasant experience for fellow employees and passengers.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Pass a Federal/National criminal background check.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, and functional assessment screening.
Working Conditions

As a Train Service Personnel I, you will be exposed to various working conditions, including bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, and more. Safety equipment will be provided and must be worn as required by department procedures and good safety practices.

Physical Demands

This job entails moderate physical labor, requiring strength and agility. You will frequently stand, reach, climb, and balance, and occasionally lift, shovel, and carry 50 pounds and exert up to 100 pounds of force.
