Patient Services Associate Job Description

Penn Medicine is committed to delivering exceptional patient care and advancing medical research. As a Patient Services Associate, you will play a vital role in supporting our outpatient sites and departments in providing high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in maintaining a patient-centered focus and support the delivery of exceptional care.
  • Coordinate patient appointments, update insurance and billing information, and perform back-end charging activities.
  • Manage and handle local site physician calls related to scheduling and patient care.
  • Utilize knowledge of schedules and protocols to ensure seamless patient flow.
  • Communicate effectively with local site staff, physicians, and patients to resolve issues and improve patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including SQL reports, to support scheduling and revenue cycle.
  • Participate in entity-wide initiatives for patient and employee safety.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • 4+ years of customer service experience required.
  • 2+ years of medical experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of third-party insurance coverage guidelines.
  • Advanced degree may be considered in lieu of experience.
