Job Overview

Position: Shift Lead

The Shift Lead is essential in ensuring the efficient operation of our warehouse activities. This role involves supervising workflow, collaborating with team members, and upholding a safe and orderly work environment. Your leadership capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and problem-solving skills will be vital in achieving operational success. Experience in the produce sector and the ability to work in a cold storage environment are necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspire and guide a team of warehouse personnel to meet daily production goals and quality benchmarks. Offer coaching and support to enhance team performance and efficiency.
  • Organize and prioritize daily operations, including receiving, picking, packing, and shipping of products. Efficiently allocate resources to fulfill operational needs and reduce downtime.
  • Perform regular quality checks to ensure precision and excellence in all warehouse functions. Implement corrective measures as required to address any discrepancies from established protocols.
  • Manage inventory control activities, including cycle counts, stock replenishment, and reconciliation. Monitor stock levels and report any inconsistencies or shortages to relevant parties.
  • Enforce safety measures and best practices to maintain a secure working environment. Conduct safety training and inspections to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Act as a communication bridge between warehouse staff and management, relaying operational updates, performance metrics, and any issues that may arise during the shift.
  • Identify and address operational challenges promptly. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Coordinate with carriers regarding their estimated arrival times to prepare orders accordingly.
  • Conduct quality control inspections of incoming shipments, ensuring all inspections are documented and communicated to the Shipping/Receiving Department.
  • Maintain organized storage areas and manage floor space for optimal and safe utilization, ensuring warehouse supplies are readily available.
  • Ensure equipment operates efficiently by adhering to operational guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher education required; additional qualifications in logistics or supply chain management are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in warehouse operations and in a leadership capacity.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Experience operating forklifts.
  • Ability to work in a cold storage environment.
  • Prior experience in the produce or perishables sector is essential.
  • Food safety training is preferred.
  • Strong leadership abilities, capable of motivating team members to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a strong focus on detail.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards in a warehouse setting.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends as necessary.

Compensation and Benefits: This position offers an hourly wage of $20-$22. After the probationary period, benefits include health, dental, vision, gap insurance, 401k, and paid time off.
