The Coordinator for School Age Programs is responsible for creating a secure, enjoyable, and educational atmosphere for all participants in the School Age programs. This role involves upholding policies and procedures in the absence of the Site Coordinator and requires flexibility to work at various locations as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Designs a weekly schedule of activities that incorporate the YMCA Curriculum.
  2. Provides direct oversight and mentorship to all staff members within the center.
  3. Implements effective discipline strategies and manages all children in accordance with established policies.
  4. Ensures that all activities are both safe and enjoyable, actively engaging with the children during these activities.
  5. Fosters positive relationships with parents, staff, school personnel, and the school Principal.
  6. Maintains the inventory and condition of all school and YMCA equipment and supplies.
  7. Assists in the upkeep of records and data pertaining to each child and employee.
  8. Supports the collection of fees and the execution of the site budget.
  9. Participates in all staff meetings and training sessions, including those mandated by the state.
  10. Ensures cleanliness and organization of the school and YMCA facilities.
  11. Understands and promotes the YMCA mission statement and program philosophies.
  12. Effectively manages emergency situations that arise within the YMCA program, demonstrating sound judgment.
  13. Adheres to YMCA standards for School Age programs, as well as state licensing and central agency requirements.
  14. Supports YMCA and grant contract policies and procedures.
  15. Promotes all YMCA programs and encourages family involvement.
  16. Builds strong relationships with program participants, staff, and volunteers.
  17. Completes required training on abuse risk management.
  18. Reports any suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  19. Follows mandated reporting requirements for abuse as outlined by YMCA and grant contracts.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  2. A minimum of 6 months of experience in a before or after school environment is required.
  3. Completion of all mandatory child care training is necessary.
  4. Possession of six early childhood credits from an accredited institution or a CDA or equivalent credential is required.
  5. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
  6. Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED is required.
  7. Knowledge of sports and children's programming is preferred.
  8. Strong communication, supervisory, and organizational skills are essential.
  9. Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain records, and resolve conflicts is necessary.
  10. A proven history of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents is important.
