Who we are looking for:
The Youth Enrichment Program Coordinator is responsible for fostering a secure, nurturing, and educational atmosphere for participants in the Youth Enrichment Program. This position involves engaging with young individuals in a variety of academic and personal development activities throughout the year, including the summer 'Community Out of School Time' (COST) initiative. The Coordinator will collaborate with the team to oversee participants, educators, artists, and volunteers, ensuring comprehensive support for program execution. Additionally, this role will liaise with the Site Supervisor and Program Director to maintain the highest standards of service quality for our clients and their families.
What we offer:
Starting Base Pay: $20.00 per hour
Hours: 25 hours per week (Hours may increase during school breaks)
Schedule: 1:30 PM - 6:30 PM (School Days) or 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM / 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM (Non-School Days, Holidays, Breaks)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct service supervision, engagement, and mentorship to participants through a positive youth development framework at the program site and during excursions.
- Facilitate various personal and academic enrichment activities for youth.
- Oversee group activities and classes to ensure a safe, supportive, and educational environment for all participants.
- Design and implement evidence-based curricula and structured learning experiences utilizing the program's core methodologies and resources.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding participant progress and issues, promoting family involvement and community partnerships, and assisting with events such as Open Houses and Family Nights.
- Complete necessary intake documentation, including eligibility verification, attendance tracking, surveys, evaluations, and other quality assurance requirements.
- Prepare incident/accident reports and submit them to the Program Supervisor as needed.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety of the site, equipment, and supplies.
- Be flexible with scheduling, including availability for afternoons and evenings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor and VP of Community Services.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, along with a minimum of six (6) college credit hours in early childhood or elementary education.
- Understanding of safety protocols and compliance with safety regulations.
- Prior experience working with at-risk youth, preferably in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with positive youth development principles, Community Out of School Time (COST) programming, and childcare licensing standards.
- Must obtain 40 DCF clock hours in childcare training within 90 days of employment.
- Preferred: Pinellas County Licensing Board (PCLB) Staff Member in Charge (SMIC) credentials.
- CPR/First Aid Certification required.
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
- Capacity to work independently and take initiative.
- Demonstrated good judgment, common sense, and follow-through on assigned tasks.
- Strong decision-making skills that prioritize the best interests of clients and adhere to licensing standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Able to build and maintain effective relationships with individuals from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Must have a personal cell phone.
- Background must comply with Department of Juvenile Justice requirements.
- Valid Florida driver's license, clear driving record, and current automobile insurance are necessary.
This is a part-time position requiring 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM. On non-school days, spring break, winter break, and summer break, hours will be from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM or 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and walking.
- Ability to respond quickly to conflicts or unsafe situations.
- Must be physically active for prolonged periods.
- Clear verbal communication skills.
- Ability to comprehend spoken language.
- Capability to see and hear children and objects at varying distances.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including engaging in sports activities and field trips.
