Job Title: Outreach Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Outreach Teacher to join our team. As an Outreach Teacher, you will be responsible for providing non-Part C early intervention services to Deaf and hard of hearing infants and toddlers throughout the New Orleans and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel throughout Louisiana to provide outreach services to children and their families
  • Administer prescribed pre and post tests to evaluate student progress
  • Provide input for decisions regarding placement of children in appropriate educational programs
  • Use designated curricula and materials in the teaching/learning process
  • Develop weekly lesson plans for child ages 0 – 3 for supervisory review

Requirements:

  • Louisiana Teacher certification as set forth in Louisiana Standards for State Certification of School Personnel (Bulletin 746) including the Hearing Impaired/Deaf Education, Early Childhood or Special Education endorsement(s) or a Speech-Language Pathology Degree as outlined by the Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology
  • Possession and presentation of Conference of Executives of American School for the Deaf/Council on Education of the Deaf (CEASD/CED) certification will satisfy the Louisiana requirement for the Hearing Impaired/Deaf Education endorsement or the ability to obtain Hearing Impaired/Deaf Education certification within three (3) year of hire date
  • Must possess a current Driver's License and the ability to be certified through the State Driver Safety Program
  • Frequent travel greater than 100 miles/day is required
