Job Title: Associate Director Government Affairs

The Office of Government, Community & Economic Partnerships is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Associate Director Government Affairs. This role is a key member of a team that represents Johns Hopkins University and Medicine before the Maryland General Assembly. The team provides critical support to the institution by analyzing proposed state legislation, regulations, and policies, and advising on the development of Johns Hopkins' position or course of action.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and advise on proposed state legislation, regulations, and policies, providing timely information to leadership, faculty, and staff.
  • Serve as a technical and policy resource to the Maryland General Assembly, monitoring and attending General Assembly hearings and sessions.
  • Evaluate and analyze how proposed positions or actions will affect or impact Johns Hopkins policies and programs.
  • Assist in the development of the GCE legislative newsletter, providing an overview of legislative issues and updates on bill status.
  • Collaborate with internal experts to write and deliver testimony on legislation impacting Johns Hopkins.
  • Develop policy briefs and testimony, and assist in strategic planning of Johns Hopkins legislative priorities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree, Advanced Degree in Law, or related field preferred.
  • Five years related experience in government relations or public policy.
Work Environment:

This position is located full-time from January through April in the Government, Community & Economic Partnerships office in Annapolis, Maryland. The remainder of the year, this position is based out of the Baltimore office.
