Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement legislative strategies to advance the City's interests and goals.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management on legislative matters, including policy development and analysis.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including elected officials, community leaders, and other government agencies.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of legislative initiatives, including bill drafting and advocacy.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure effective communication and coordination on legislative matters.
  • Stay up-to-date on legislative developments and trends, and provide recommendations to senior management on how to respond.
  • Supervise and manage a team of legislative affairs staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least six years of experience in legislative affairs, government relations, or a related field, with at least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of legislative processes and procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working in a government agency or non-profit organization.
  • Knowledge of the City's policies and procedures, as well as its mission and vision.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively in multiple languages.
