Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Grounds Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Trinity Health Of New England. As a key member of our Plant Operation team, you will be responsible for maintaining the hospital campus grounds, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the hospital campus grounds in a safe and clean condition, including snow removal, service vehicles, and grounds equipment.
  • Mow and trim grass to proper seasonal height, and maintain flower beds, trees, and shrubs using contract services as needed.
  • Perform daily rounds of the grounds to inspect for safety and sanitary problems and correct discrepancies.
  • Keep all walks, roads, and parking lots clear of ice and snow, and maintain and perform minor repairs on engineering vehicles and grounds equipment.
  • Respond immediately to calls for all service functions and special projects to ensure the safety and operation of the facility.
  • Assist other trades when instructed by the engineering supervisor, and be able to use large equipment for plowing and lifting.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least one (1) year experience of basic technical or occupationally specific training in refrigeration and/or HVAC operations.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems requiring the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in-depth, experienced-based knowledge.
  • Valid Connecticut Driver's license, and ability to obtain Department of Public Safety hoisting license within six (6) months of employment.
  • Ability to lift objects up to fifty lbs. daily, and prolonged walking and standing at least 50% of the time.
