Role Overview
SMBC is in search of an Executive Director, Credit Officer within the Credit Department. This position requires a blend of credit expertise and quantitative analysis skills to evaluate the credit risk associated with structured finance transactions, particularly in North America. The primary duties include reviewing credit applications from the front office and preparing comprehensive credit analysis for presentation to the Credit Department's management.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough analyses of credit risk elements related to proposed transactions and underlying asset classes, providing written recommendations to management.
- Facilitate the credit approval process by coordinating communication between front office teams and Credit Department management.
- Offer guidance to front office teams to ensure adherence to internal standards.
- Oversee compliance with internal policies, workflows, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that all credit applications meet US regulatory standards.
- Engage in additional credit-related projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in corporate finance and/or structured products.
- Profound knowledge of corporate and structured financing, including securitization and asset-backed lending, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage high volumes of transactions in a dynamic environment, delivering timely credit analyses and recommendations.
- Strong critical thinking skills to assess complex information and make informed credit decisions.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required; an MBA, CFA, or other professional qualifications are highly preferred.
