The Residential Operations Specialist directly reports to the Director of Housing and is tasked with overseeing administrative functions within the BC Residence Hall. This includes coordinating services from Campus Operations, implementing the BC Housing Management system, supervising the Housing front desk, and executing various tasks to ensure the smooth daily operations of Housing. The role primarily requires on-site presence, with limited remote work options to be arranged with the Director of Housing or their designee.
Compensation, Benefits & Work ScheduleSalary Range: $51,576/year - $69,312/year
The salary indicated is a general guideline. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, and market considerations. New hires to Classified positions are assigned a salary range in accordance with the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
We provide a comprehensive compensation package that includes a competitive salary within the stated range, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Additionally, a generous benefits package is available through Washington State plans, offering multiple medical, dental, life, and disability coverage options for employees and their dependents. Other benefits include retirement plans, paid holidays, sick leave, vacation time, transit programs, reduced tuition, and employee discounts.
The employee is expected to work 40 hours per week. This is a Classified position, eligible for overtime, and represented by the Washington Public Employee Association of Higher Education (WPEA-HE).

Department OverviewThe Bellevue College Housing department was established in Fall 2018 with the opening of the first on-campus residence hall for BC students. The mission of Bellevue College Housing is to provide safe, inclusive, and educationally-driven living and learning environments through quality facilities and support services. The LEED-Platinum certified residence hall features 400 bed spaces in suite and apartment styles, along with ample community spaces for studying, meetings, and socializing.
The Housing department consists of the Director, Assistant Director, and student staff, including 6 to 8 Resident Assistants and desk staff. Each member plays a crucial role in the overall operation of the on-campus community, connecting housing operations with campus services to enhance the student experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesFacilities and Operations
- Translate student maintenance requests into the Bellevue College Work Order system.
- Streamline the process for students to submit maintenance requests.
- Collaborate with the Director of Housing to support facilities management projects and work order processing.
- Coordinate the administration and distribution of Housing keys in collaboration with the Director of Housing.
- Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on Housing key management systems.
- Manage the process for receiving and distributing mail in collaboration with the Bellevue College Warehouse.
- Maintain relationships with Campus Operations, Public Safety, and Finance offices.
- Communicate regularly with Campus Operations staff regarding work order statuses.
- Schedule and implement quarterly Health and Safety Inspections throughout the Residence Hall.
- Research and recommend improvements for Housing facilities and operations.
Housing Support
- Participate in departmental meetings and events.
- Provide operational updates to the Director of Housing and develop reports.
- Co-administer the Housing Management System, including data entry and tracking.
- Maintain limited budgetary authority for discretionary spending.
- Support the Director in organizing Housing service contracts.
- Facilitate confidential storage of departmental data.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Management of Student Staff
- Assign and oversee tasks for student employees.
- Share supervision of student desk staff with the Director of Housing.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in a related field or two years of relevant administrative experience.
- Proven ability to manage departmental resources effectively.
- Experience working collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a diverse workplace.
- Knowledge of compliance with ADA, Title IX, and relevant laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education.
- Experience with community/technical colleges or open-enrollment institutions.
- Experience in higher education housing programs or student engagement.
- Ability to supervise staff effectively in a team environment.
- Experience in hiring, training, and supervising student employees.
- Ability to mediate misunderstandings among students, staff, and faculty.
