Position Summary:

At Vail Resorts, service is the cornerstone of our mission, and our Ski Patrol team exemplifies this commitment by ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all. As a Ski Patrol Team Leader, you will be responsible for safeguarding the well-being of both staff and guests on the mountain, demonstrating vigilance and reliability while remaining composed during emergencies.

Position Specifications:

  • Expected Compensation: $30.59 per hour
  • Availability: Full-Time
  • Experience Level: Advanced
  • Additional Requirements: Patrol members operate at high altitudes across various terrains and weather conditions. Candidates must successfully complete an expert-level ski patrol assessment upon hiring; snowboard-only candidates may face eligibility restrictions due to safety considerations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed about and enforce relevant laws, policies, and procedures to ensure guest safety.
  • Ensure the safety and functionality of trails through proactive measures such as avalanche control, tree removal, and end-of-day mountain sweeps.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement emergency response plans, including evacuations and search and rescue operations.
  • Provide care for injured guests and staff, including transport via toboggan or airlift when necessary.
  • Facilitate training, mentorship, and support for patrol members.
  • Assist patrol leadership with daily operations, including organizing tasks, investigating incidents, and recruitment activities.
  • Oversee and assign responsibilities to volunteers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) certification required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of prior patrol experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Capability to utilize all senses effectively.
  • Able to lift and transport 50 to 100 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Ability to frequently walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach in various climate conditions and at high elevations.

The expected pay range is $30.59 per hour. This range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role, with individual decisions based on various factors.
