Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in delivering quality care to patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. This role is essential in ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients while performing duties with professionalism and competence tailored to the specific needs of the patient demographic.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients with daily living activities to enhance their comfort and well-being.
  • Support personal hygiene efforts for patients, ensuring dignity and respect.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
  • Facilitate patient mobility and feeding according to established protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in patient rooms to promote a healing environment.
  • Observe and communicate any changes in patient conditions to the nursing staff.
  • Guide patients and their families in understanding unit procedures and safety protocols.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as answering calls, data entry, and maintaining patient records.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies to ensure availability.
  • Perform technical tasks as trained, including basic cardiac monitoring and blood draws.
Physical Requirements:

Work Environment:
This position requires physical stamina, including walking, standing, lifting, and bending. Candidates must be capable of lifting up to 35 pounds to assist with patient care and equipment handling. Proficiency in English communication is necessary for effective interaction.

Qualifications:
  • Must be listed on the DHHS Nurse Aide Registry.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
Language Proficiency:

Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
