Position Summary

We are in search of educators who are enthusiastic about teaching middle school students and possess specialized knowledge in English Language Arts. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to student success, a growth-oriented mindset, and a readiness to engage in constructive feedback to enhance their professional development.

Key Responsibilities

Relationship Building

  • Collaborate with fellow educators to refine classroom practices and support the overarching goals of the institution.
  • Communicate and uphold high standards for student behavior and academic performance, in alignment with the school's core values.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that engages both students and their families.

Instructional Planning and Delivery

  • Design and implement challenging instructional plans for both large and small groups of students.
  • Actively seek and incorporate feedback to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Reflect on teaching practices to identify areas for growth and development.
  • Maintain a structured and secure learning environment with clear expectations.

Assessment and Data Analysis

  • Provide constructive feedback to students and allow multiple opportunities for demonstrating understanding.
  • Evaluate student progress toward learning objectives using appropriate assessment methods.
  • Utilize data analysis to drive academic performance and implement effective instructional strategies.
  • Participate in state assessments and provide necessary accommodations for students.
  • Use assessment data to inform instructional adjustments and personal teaching practices.

Differentiation and Support for Diverse Learners

  • Identify and address the unique needs of all students, utilizing available resources.
  • Differentiate instruction to engage and challenge each student appropriately.
  • Employ various teaching strategies to facilitate accelerated learning and mastery of concepts.
  • Collaborate with staff and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior plans.

Engagement with Families

  • Build strong partnerships with families through regular communication about educational goals and expectations.
  • Engage respectfully with parents/guardians, considering the diverse cultures and values of families.

Professionalism and Commitment to Inclusion

  • Exhibit reliability and preparedness as a member of the educational community.
  • Demonstrate dedication to the values of Neighborhood Charter Schools.
  • Continuously seek professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • NYS Teaching Certification is preferred, with support available for certification pathways.
  • Experience in an urban educational setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with supporting students with disabilities, particularly those with autism spectrum disorders, is preferred.

Compensation: $73,500-$95,000 +
