The ELA Educator at Urban Dove Charter School is a passionate and innovative teacher dedicated to fostering academic success among students. They are well-versed in the distinct challenges faced by our students and work collaboratively to ensure every learner achieves their academic goals.
ABOUT URBAN DOVE:
Urban Dove Charter School is a unique educational institution that combines a rigorous academic framework with sports-based youth development, serving students who are over-aged and under-credited. Our mission is to equip graduates with a high school diploma, essential life skills, and pathways to higher education.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Co-facilitate five classes, each lasting 55 minutes.
- Work collaboratively in an Inclusive Co-Teaching (ICT) setting.
- Provide tailored instruction to meet diverse student needs.
- Implement restorative practices and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to manage student behavior.
- Collaborate with support personnel, including Social Workers and Coaches, to develop individualized learning plans.
- Track and discuss student progress and set achievable goals.
- Administer assessments to evaluate progress towards key competencies.
- Engage in collaborative curriculum development and participate in school-wide activities.
- Regularly analyze student performance data using an electronic management system.
- Participate in a comprehensive orientation and ongoing professional development.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives, including mentoring and committee participation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- New York State Certification is mandatory.
- Open to both novice and seasoned educators.
- Experience in a Transfer School is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Google Applications is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while delivering high-quality outcomes.
