Credentialing Operations Coordinator

Position Overview:
The Credentialing Coordinator plays a vital role in the Department of Medical Staff Services at Mercy Medical Center. This position involves:
- Familiarity with established policies, procedures, and standards related to hospital and managed care credentialing.
- A comprehensive understanding of the Medical Staff Bylaws and the Credentialing Handbook.
- Processing initial and reappointment credentialing applications.
- Credentialing practitioners associated with contracted health plans.
- Maintaining accurate and current data throughout all credentialing processes.
- Providing timely and precise responses to customer inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a medical staff services setting is essential; five years is preferred.
- A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Certification Requirements: CPCS certification is preferred.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity with Meditech and Epic is advantageous.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Capability to work independently and make informed decisions when necessary.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with personnel, visitors, patients, and the general public.
- Flexibility, integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Excellent customer service skills and telephone etiquette.
- Typing proficiency of at least 55 words per minute is required.
- Reliability, responsibility, and accountability for assigned tasks are essential.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage substantial paperwork to meet deadlines.
- Analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective time management are crucial.
- Initiative in achieving expected outcomes is necessary.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
