Position Overview:

The Credentialing Coordinator plays a vital role in the Department of Medical Staff Services at Mercy Medical Center. This position involves:

  • Familiarity with established policies, procedures, and standards related to hospital and managed care credentialing.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the Medical Staff Bylaws and the Credentialing Handbook.
  • Processing initial and reappointment credentialing applications.
  • Credentialing practitioners associated with contracted health plans.
  • Maintaining accurate and current data throughout all credentialing processes.
  • Providing timely and precise responses to customer inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a medical staff services setting is essential; five years is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Certification Requirements: CPCS certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity with Meditech and Epic is advantageous.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Capability to work independently and make informed decisions when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with personnel, visitors, patients, and the general public.
  • Flexibility, integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills and telephone etiquette.
  • Typing proficiency of at least 55 words per minute is required.
  • Reliability, responsibility, and accountability for assigned tasks are essential.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage substantial paperwork to meet deadlines.
  • Analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective time management are crucial.
  • Initiative in achieving expected outcomes is necessary.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
