Position Overview:
The Credentialing Coordinator plays a vital role in the Department of Medical Staff Services at Mercy Medical Center. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures as well as accreditation and regulatory standards related to hospital and managed care credentialing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Familiarity with the Bylaws of the Medical Staff and the Credentialing Handbook.
- Processing initial and reappointment credentialing applications.
- Credentialing practitioners associated with contracted health plans.
- Maintaining accurate and current data throughout all credentialing processes.
- Providing timely and precise responses to customer inquiries.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a medical staff services environment; five years preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Certification Requirements: CPCS is preferred.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity with Meditech and Epic is advantageous.
Essential Skills:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Capability to work independently and make sound decisions when necessary.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with personnel, visitors, and the public.
- Flexibility, integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Excellent customer service skills and telephone etiquette.
- Typing proficiency of at least 55 words per minute.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks amidst a high volume of paperwork.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Initiative in achieving desired outcomes while maintaining confidentiality and exercising good judgment.
