Position Overview:
The Credentialing Coordinator plays a vital role in the Department of Medical Staff Services at Mercy Medical Center. This position is responsible for ensuring that all credentialing processes align with established policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Familiarity with hospital and managed care credentialing policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of the Medical Staff Bylaws and Credentialing Handbook.
  • Processing initial and reappointment credentialing applications.
  • Credentialing practitioners associated with contracted health plans.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date data throughout all credentialing processes.
  • Providing timely and accurate responses to inquiries from various stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a medical staff services environment is required; five years is preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with Meditech, Epic, and other relevant software is advantageous.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, patients, and the public.
  • Flexibility, integrity, and teamwork capabilities.

  • Typing proficiency of at least 55 words per minute.
