Surgical Technologist and Licensed Practical Nurse

As a Certified Surgical Technician at Cayuga Medical Center, you will play a vital role in a collaborative healthcare team focused on providing compassionate care to the community. You will be empowered to operate within your full scope of practice, contributing to the development and evaluation of programs aimed at improving patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to established standards of care for surgical patients, following AORN guidelines.
- Prepare surgical environments by organizing supplies and maintaining equipment.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons and anesthesia teams by preparing necessary instruments and materials.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the handling of surgical supplies and equipment, adjusting to patient needs during procedures.
- Assist in patient positioning and preparation, following established protocols for surgical scrubs and counts.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards, ensuring the surgical area is secure and equipment is functional.
- Maintain compliance with infection control practices and stay updated on continuing education and policy changes.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT, or a valid LPN license.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program, eligible for certification.
Preferred Attributes:
- Flexible scheduling options available, including day shifts with various hour configurations. On-call responsibilities are part of the role, with a prompt response time required.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent use of hands and fingers, standing for extended periods, and the ability to lift and move weights as necessary.
- Visual acuity for close and distance vision, as well as depth perception.
Work Environment:
- This position requires on-site presence.
Compensation:
- Hourly pay range: $30.00 to $39.28.
