The role of a Certified Surgical Tech/Licensed Practical Nurse is a full-time opportunity that comes with a $15,000 sign-on bonus. As a Surgical Tech at Cayuga Medical Center, you will play a vital role in a collaborative healthcare team, focused on delivering comprehensive and compassionate care to our community. You will have the chance to work within your full scope of practice, contributing to the development and execution of programs aimed at improving patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to established standards of care for surgical patients, following AORN guidelines.
  • Prepare surgical environments by organizing supplies and maintaining cleanliness of equipment.
  • Anticipate the needs of surgeons and anesthesia providers by preparing necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the handling of surgical instruments and respond effectively to patient needs during procedures.
  • Assist in patient positioning and preparation, ensuring compliance with surgical protocols.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards, ensuring a safe environment for patients.
  • Maintain universal precautions and infection control measures, adapting to changing patient care needs.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT, or a valid LPN license.
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program, with eligibility for certification.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Flexible scheduling options including day shifts with various hour combinations. Participation in a rotating on-call schedule is required.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent use of hands and fingers, standing for extended periods, and the ability to lift and move patients and equipment as necessary.
  • Vision requirements include the ability to see closely, at a distance, and perceive color and depth.

Work Environment:

  • This position requires on-site presence.

Compensation:

  • Hourly pay range is between $30.00 and $39.28.
